FAQ

Common questions

How do I check if my Minecraft server is online?

Select Minecraft (or Auto) and enter your address — a hostname like mc.hypixel.net, an IPv4 address, or a bracketed IPv6 address. isgameup pings the public endpoint and reports status, players, version, and latency.

Why does my server work for me but not my friends?

It usually means the server is reachable on your local network but not from the public internet — typically a port forwarding or firewall issue. Use the port check with your public IP and port (25565 for Minecraft Java) to confirm whether it responds from outside your network.

Does an ARK server need a port?

Yes — enter ARK as IP:port using the query port, for example 1.2.3.4:27015. The query port isn't the same as the game port and there's no reliable default, so it must be included. Minecraft has default ports, so a bare hostname works there.

How does Hytale server status work?

Hytale uses UDP and QUIC, so isgameup reads the public endpoint provided by the Nitrado WebServer and Query plugins. The server owner must enable anonymous basic query access. Enter the game address; port 5520 is used when omitted.

What does "Couldn't check" mean?

isgameup gives a decisive Online or Offline for any server it can reach, and retries first so a single dropped packet doesn't cause a false Offline. "Couldn't check" appears only when the check can't be run at all, such as an ARK: Survival Ascended server on Epic Online Services, or a temporary problem on our side.
